On March 16, 2023 the newest Tent of the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War was chartered. Many months of organization and planning happened to make this a reality. We look forward to fantastic and interesting speakers at our upcoming meetings.
How can I join? Do I qualify?
Eligibility for membership in the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, 1861 – 1865 is based on the eligibility as formerly required for membership in the Grand Army of the Republic and shall be limited to daughters, granddaughters, and great granddaughters of any generation through lineal descent only. As stated in our National Constitutions and Bylaws, this shall never be changed. The minimum age for membership shall be eight years of age.
We invite all daughters who descend from one or more Union Veteran, to honor their Veteran ancestor, by applying for membership.
Membership shall be limited to women who can provide documented proof that their ancestor was a soldier or sailor of the U. S. Army, Navy, or Marine Corps and Revenue Cutter Service who served between April 12, 1861 and April 9, 1865 in the war for the suppression of the Rebellion, and of such State regiments as were called into active service and subject of the orders of the United States General Officers. The ancestor must have been honorably discharged therefrom after such service, or who died or was killed during their term of service. No person shall be eligible for membership who has at any time borne arms against the United States.
Through membership in the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, 1861 – 1865 each woman, who is descended from a Civil War ancestor, will have the opportunity to preserve her Civil War heritage for posterity, while honoring and revering her Civil War ancestry, and promoting patriotism for the United States of America.
